| Convention | Description |

| Code | Indicates filenames, source code, structure syntax, examples, user input or program output. |
| Label | Indicates labels and keywords in the user interface of the program. |
| Product | Indicates product names and other emphasized names. |
| Value | Indicates a component’s value such as for example default values. |
| ⟨text⟩ | Indicates a placeholder whereby the word “text” will be replaced by a real descriptor. |
| [⟨text⟩] | Indicates a button to be clicked whereby “⟨text⟩” contains a real button’s name. |
